For most of my life, I thought power looked like pushing through. I thought being in control meant being safe. I thought being chosen meant I was finally enough.
None of that was true.
The woman I was before lived in survival. She was constantly striving, giving more than she had, and trying to earn love in places that only offered conditions and crumbs.
That version of me was exhausted. Unfulfilled. Always overdoing, rarely receiving.
That version of me was not aligned with my divine feminine energy — because she didn’t even know what that meant.
Stepping into my divine feminine wasn’t a glow-up.
It was a breakdown, a rebuilding, and a returning to myself.
And the first step was letting go.
Here are the five things I had to release to reconnect with my divine feminine energy — and how you can begin doing the same.

1. I Let Go of Overperforming and Overexplaining Myself
Growing up, I felt like I had to explain everything.
Why I was quiet. Why I needed space. Why I didn’t want to go along with things that felt wrong.
As I got older, this turned into overperforming — in jobs, relationships, friendships — constantly doing more to prove I was worthy of being kept.
This left me in constant anxiety. I was drained but didn’t feel like I had the right to rest. I gave and gave hoping to be chosen, while abandoning myself in the process.
What shifted:
When I started healing, I realized: explaining myself all the time was a trauma response. It was me trying to stay safe by pleasing people. But it was also me dimming my voice. I started honoring my “no.” I stopped overcompensating. And I began to see that silence is also a full sentence.
Tool I used:
- A sticky note on my mirror that read: “I don’t owe anyone an explanation for honoring myself.”
2. I Let Go of the ‘Strong Woman’ Identity That Was Slowly Breaking Me
Being strong became my identity. I didn’t cry in front of people. I didn’t ask for help. I showed up no matter how exhausted I was.
But underneath that mask, I was hurting.
I wasn’t strong. I was scared. I was tired of having to be the one holding everything together.
What shifted:
The divine feminine doesn’t fear softness — she embraces it.
I realized that strength isn’t in pretending you’re okay. It’s in owning your truth.
Being in my feminine meant learning to receive — support, care, love — without guilt or resistance.
What helped me:
- I started therapy. And I didn’t sugarcoat how tired I was anymore.
- I made a list of what I actually needed and practiced asking for it without apologizing.
Example:
Instead of saying, “I’m fine,” I practiced saying, “Actually, I’m overwhelmed. I need rest.” That was foreign to me — but freeing.
3. I Let Go of Emotional Suppression and Started Feeling Again
For years, I kept everything inside. I thought I had to. Crying was weak. Being angry made you “too much.” Feeling deeply made you unstable.
So I stuffed everything — until it started showing up in my body: stomach pain, migraines, chest pressure. That’s how trauma works. If you don’t release it emotionally, your body carries it physically.
What shifted:
I stopped fearing my emotions. I stopped telling myself I was too sensitive.
Instead, I started giving myself permission to feel without judgment.
Feeling is not a problem. Repressing your feelings is.
What helped me:
- I built an “emotional release playlist” — music I could cry to, scream to, move to.
- I created a safe space to feel without filters. Sometimes I just sat with my journal and wrote: “What am I really feeling today that I’ve been avoiding?”
4. I Let Go of the Fear That Rest Meant I’d Fall Behind
I used to feel lazy if I rested. Like I needed to earn it.
If I wasn’t working, fixing, solving something, I felt anxious. Because I equated productivity with value.
But the truth is: I was burning out. And no one was coming to save me from it.
What shifted:
The divine feminine doesn’t thrive in hustle — she thrives in alignment.
When I rested, I could think more clearly. I was more creative. I became more intentional, not less driven.
What helped me:
- I gave rest a structure. I blocked out “non-negotiable quiet time.”
- I replaced my guilt with purpose: “Rest isn’t a break from growth. It’s part of it.”
This mindset shift changed everything. I became more productive, less reactive, and a whole lot more at peace.
5. I Let Go of Seeking Validation Outside of Myself
This one was the hardest.
I spent years performing for love. If I looked good enough, worked hard enough, or acted like the “perfect woman,” I’d finally feel whole.
But it was never enough.
And it was never sustainable.
What shifted:
I stopped chasing validation and started building self-trust. I stopped needing people to tell me who I was and started defining it myself.
The divine feminine is rooted in internal worth — not external approval.
What helped me:
- I took social media breaks to quiet the noise.
- I reconnected with what made me feel powerful, beautiful, and grounded — even when no one was watching.
- I asked myself: If I didn’t need anyone’s permission, what would I do today?
I let my answer guide me — not the algorithm, not the comments, not the pressure to perform.

Real Talk: What Letting Go Really Looks Like
Letting go isn’t a cute quote on Instagram. It’s hard.
It’s uncomfortable. It challenges your entire identity.
Sometimes it looks like crying on the floor, realizing you’ve abandoned yourself for years.
Sometimes it looks like canceling plans because your nervous system can’t take one more thing.
Sometimes it looks like saying “no” for the first time and shaking because you’re scared of the fallout.
But that’s what reclaiming your divine feminine looks like. It’s not polished. It’s powerful.

If You’re Just Starting This Work, Here’s What to Focus On:
1. Self-Responsibility
This journey starts with facing the hard truth: you’ve silenced your needs, tolerated what hurt, and called it love or loyalty. You abandoned yourself to feel safe, accepted, or chosen. Now it’s time to take full ownership—not to punish yourself, but to finally come home to you.
2. Support
Healing in isolation creates loops you can’t always see your way out of. You weren’t meant to carry it all alone. Whether it’s a coach, a therapist, or someone who truly sees you—healing requires safe connection. Let someone walk with you so you can stop just surviving and start being supported.
3. Consistency
This isn’t a quick fix or a weekend breakthrough. It’s a lifelong process of unlearning, relearning, and choosing yourself over and over again. You won’t always feel ready, but you have to keep showing up—especially on the days it’s hardest. That’s where the real shift happens.

Final Thoughts
Reclaiming your divine feminine isn’t about becoming someone else. It’s about finally becoming yourself — the version of you that doesn’t need to overperform, overgive, or overexplain.
Letting go is a process. But every time you release something that’s no longer aligned, you create space for something that is.
More peace.
More alignment.
More power.
You don’t need to do more to be enough.
You just need to come home to yourself.
Tools & Resources to Support Your Healing Journey
When you’re healing, your environment should reflect the version of you you’re becoming—calm, grounded, supported, and intentional. These tools aren’t just things to have; they’re reminders that your healing deserves space, effort, and consistency.
Here are three resources I recommend from Amazon that can help support your journey as you reconnect with your divine feminine energy:

Scented Candle with Affirmations
Why it helps: Lighting a candle can signal your nervous system to slow down. Choosing one with empowering words or calming scents like lavender, sandalwood, or rose reminds you to breathe and be present.
Use it for: journaling time, meditations, or after emotional release work.

Floor Meditation Cushion Set
Why it helps: Your body holds your stress. Having a dedicated space that feels peaceful matters. A floor cushion gives you comfort and signals, “This is my space to reset.”
Use it for: breathwork, prayer, stillness, or grounding practices.

Remember: You don’t need a big space or a perfect setup. You just need intention. Healing is a lifestyle, not a phase — so build an environment that helps you stay connected to your peace.
